Myths and Folklore with Karissa

I was happy with my progress until a couple weeks ago. Things started to get busier and I prioritized other assignments over the blog posts or comments I needed to do for Mythology and Folklore. At the time it was the right decision because I can do extra credit assignments for this class. However, now I will have to catch up in the class. I am sitting at a B, but if I do one extra credit assignment every week for 4 weeks then I should be back on track. I am most proud of my stories, especially the ones that I have given a modern twist. I have been using my imagination about the future to inspire me along with the creativity in the original myths and fairy tails.  For the future, I need to realize that the storybook assignments take longer than the others, because we edit past things and post new things during some of the weeks. I have really enjoyed all of the feedback I have received. Everyone is very supportive in the class. Sometimes, I will write something and it doesn't have my complete support or pride and getting comments back about those things can be difficult; I just tend to think, "but that is not my best work!" The comments are helpful, especially for the storybook project because it is part of the coursework to edit them. It is nice to get the perspective of readers and fellow writers. Hopefully, people find my comments helpful. I try to ask questions and make suggestions while praising certain aspects of the story that I enjoyed. I liked practicing the pretend feedback strategy because I had never given feedback like that. It gave focus and purpose to my comments because I was advocating for a character. I want to change the title of my storybook, but I want to write maybe one more story before I do it. I need to have more context from my stories to craft a new title. Besides that, I like the look of my website. I have the same banner image throughout the different pages and I think it brings the site continuity. I do want to find images, illustrations, paintings of a black woman to represent the mother character. For my blog, I am happy with the way it is set up. I looked at other templates for the site and kept coming back to the one I already have! Looking back, I need to work on reading like a writer. When I am reading, I don't know what direction I am going to take the retelling in, so it is hard for me to take notes in a way that will help my writing. I usually read and take notes over the plot and sometimes things that I like about the original. Then, later I think more about how I will change it.
